Welcome to Blue Collar Travel Adventures, for young and old!

Welcome to Blue Collar Travel Adventures, for young and old! Because travel is the one thing you will spend money on, yet be richer from the experience.

We are a three generation family that works,

lives and travels together. We make most decision with a group discussion while also going our own way for some celebrations. While we are not world travelers yet, we love all the places we have been able to enjoy so far. And that was the inspiration for sharing our love of travel with you! We are down to earth, hard working folks who also enjoy getting away for a day, a week, or even two weeks at a time. My guess is, so do you, which is why you have stopped by for a visit!

We will be offering info on where we have actually traveled,

what we enjoyed about the trip and if we would return for a second visit. This is not a sales page or a membership group. This is simply our way of sharing a love of travel. As well as what just might be in your own backyard. Also we are not luxury class travelers. And while there is absolutely nothing wrong with luxury travel, I could not help but notice that the marketplace is a bit lacking for what we have come to call blue collar travel adventures. We hope to change that for you! Plus rest assured that we will only share what and where we have actually traveled to and enjoyed. This is not a bucket list, although we do have one! As I hope you do as well.

One of the first ideas I am going to speak to,

is being a tourist in your own hometown or local community. Speaking from experience, I lived in Vancouver WA for over 20 years before I took the time to tour Fort Vancouver Historic Reserve and learn all the history and how in fact the fort is why the city of Vancouver is even there! Want to know why I stopped by one day? We (my husband and I) had signed up to be National Park Service Volunteers and our first assignment? Fort Vancouver Historic Reserve! Needless to say not only did I learn all about the history, I had to know it, in order to fulfill my duties...But why wait, being a tourist in your own community is available right now.

Yours truly answering questions about the antique kitchen, at Fort Vancouver Historic Reserve.

But that taught me a valuable lesson.

There are many wonderful things to do, places to tour and history to learn about, in our own communities. And should you live just a little bit rural like we do, trust me, within an hour's drive, you will find some! And we do plan on sharing some of those gems we have found along the way with you. Being a tourist in our own community, had played a big part in how much we enjoy traveling overall! There will be photos, but only a few. Because the whole point of offering suggestions for Be A Tourist in Your Own Hometown is to show that you should grab your own camera and go take a tour!

The five of us in this three generation family,

range in age from 74 to 5. Making our individual interests, quite varied. But one of the joys of traveling is opening yourself up to new experiences. And while that is included in our travel playbook it sits right along side the right to simply say no, as well. But I will just confess right here and right now. Most of what the 5 year old wants to do, so do I! Show me a grandma who doesn't! But along the way, he is learning to join all of us in some of the things we all enjoy as well. Turns out, there is always a lesson to be learned...along the way!

So pour yourself a cup of coffee and pull up a chair, as we will be sharing another post ASAP! And thanks for your patience as we dig out the photos from so many places we have enjoyed, so we can share them right here!

Thank you so much for dropping by Blue Collar Travel Adventures! We hope to see you often, and if you have any questions, feel free to drop us a line.

PS: You may also know us through Scratch Made Food! & DIY Homemade Household, because when we are not out traveling, we live on our shared homestead property in rural East Texas. Cooking from scratch, planting a garden, tending to the chickens and enjoying life, while we plan the next adventure!

  1. Oh this is going to be so fun! We love playing local tourist and even after nearly 50 years of living in the same place I am thrilled when I find a "new" place to explore. Homeschooling gave us ample opportunity to find all sorts of local museums and places that we might not have otherwise sought out.

Let's Take A Cruise....I hope this convinces you to give cruising a try!

Everyone who cruises has their favorite cruise line. And now apparently so do we even though my husband and I are only on our second cruise....
